GEOTECH EXPO, THE EXCELLENCE OF THE ITALIAN GEOTECHNICAL INDUSTRY
Press release no. 40/09
(17/04/2009)

From 30 September to 2 October, at the new Rome fair Centre, the fair dedicated to the geotechnical industry will have on show companies aiming at the market of the Mediterranean area.

A sector, that of the geotechnical industry, which, in the last few years, has seen a growth trend also in Italy. In Europe, Italy, in fact, has a role of "excellence" (in competition with Germany) with regards to the design and production of machinery for perforation which are exported the world over.
An Italian success that is destined to grow considering that the geotechnical technologies can be used in diverse applications: from large wind energy plants to the storage of CO2, and transport of fluids to the drilling of wells.
In this period of economic crisis, therefore, the sector is able to create new business possibilities connected to the development of renewable energies. Another area where geo-technology is able to give an important contribution is that of the capture and storage of carbon dioxide, a procedure that enables to capture or separate the CO2 contained (for example in fossil fuels), to then compress it and transport it by pipelines or tanks to underground geological deposits.
And to offer a wide panorama on the potentialities of this sector, Geotech Expo, the fair for the geotechnical industry for the Mediterranean area, will take place from 30 September to 2 October at the New Rome Fair Centre together with other two shows: WATERMED 2009 (fair and conference on water technologies - industrial, wastewater and drinking water - in the Mediterranean area) and CCS Expo (fair for the Mediterranean area dedicated to Carbon Capture and Storage).
Geotech Expo will be the perfect occasion for all the professional operators of the Mediterranean area who will, at the shown find a great exhibition showcase regarding drilling, extraction and transport of underground fluid, platforms and equipment for geo-technical investigations on-site, perforation for deep and horizontal foundations, instruments and equipment for environmental analyses, monitoring and restoration of land, CO2 capture and the seismic industry.
During the fair, there will also be the first Italian conference on geo-technology that offers operators and visitors a vast panorama on the state-of-the-art and possible scenarios of development of the sector. Key words will be experience, innovation, competitiveness and internationality.
Geotech Expo will be held as part of ZeroEmission Rome 2009, which, now at its fifth edition, is the reference event for all those companies interested in the development of renewable energies, environmental sustainability, fighting climate changes and for emission trading, in the important market of southern Europe and the Mediterranean area.
